work with me

Velvet Lilith - Somatic Sexology online and Melbourne

WHO DO I work with?

The people who come to me are usually:

  • Experiencing sex and intimacy as a source of anxiety or dissatisfaction: a place that doesn't quite work, or that they've stopped expecting to.

  • Going through a life transition and looking to rediscover themselves

  • People looking to deepen their relationship with their bodies, themselves or their partner(s)

These sessions are for you if:

  • You have a specific sexual difficulty and you're tired of being told it's "just stress" or "just in your head".

  • You're capable and articulate in every other room, and you go blank when a partner asks what you actually want.

  • Sex has become something you manage rather than enjoy. You're not avoiding it exactly, but you're not in it either.

  • You and your partner love each other and have quietly stopped reaching for each other. Neither of you knows how to raise it.

  • You've hit a life transition, a divorce, a diagnosis, your forties, a new relationship, and the version of your sexuality you had before doesn't fit anymore.

  • You're curious about something, non-monogamy, kink, your sexual orientation, and you want to explore it with someone who has lived experience and is qualified in this space.

I work with all genders and identities, and honour the diversity of lived experiences and expressions.

what does a session look like?

We start by talking. Where you are, what's going on, and what you want to be different. In a first session, this includes a thorough conversation about your history, your relationships and your body, so I understand what we're working with. This is the assessment that shapes everything after it.

Then we work with what comes up, in one of three ways. One pillar of sessions is education: I'll explain what's actually happening in your body or relationship, using current research on arousal, desire and the nervous system, so something you've been treating as a flaw makes sense. Another pillar is the stories: we identify the beliefs you've absorbed about sex, your body and what you're allowed to want, and we work on replacing the ones that are running the show. The last pillar is the somatic: guided practices, body awareness, sensation and movement, nervous system regulation. This approach allows for the change to happen in your body and not only in your understanding.

You leave with something to practice. Every session ends with a specific practice or task for the time between sessions. That's where most of the change happens.

Throughout, you set the pace. I'll always tell you what I'm suggesting and why before we do it, and you can say no or stop at any point.

Sessions do not include any genital touch. Where a somatic practice involves touch, it's clothed, explained in advance and always optional. Anything that involves genitals is given as homeplay practice to explore in your own time.

Packages and Programs

Lasting change in how you experience your body, sex and intimacy doesn't happen in a session. It happens over time, in sessions but also in the weeks between sessions, when you practice, notice what shifts and adjust.

My programs are built around that and are tailored to your specific needs.

*Attending with a partner (Listed as Couple above)
Partner sessions work in the same way, with one difference: the focus is on what's happening between you, not only within you. That includes desire discrepancy, how you talk (or don't) about sex, opening a relationship, repairing after boundaries have been crossed… Both people set the pace, and nothing is required of either of you that you haven't agreed to. I work with couples and with people in non-monogamous relationships of any structure.
